Not that I've spent much time playing viru don't get me wrong but I must be unlucky then, there are far too many stealth around for my liking so the fact they are long cooldowns is a bit of a moot point imo. my main problem with engi is that it gives up so much burst to gain only a tiny bit better mobility, and, imo, gives up too much. viru fits my run and gun play style very well and i have learned, over a long time, how to make it perform very well, but it is a compromise. most players don't realize when i am setting up on them and get surprised by cull, and surprise cull wrecks you no matter what class you are running. as i said above, i personally like viru in pvp as a good compromise between burst and mobility, but i also like that it has a very surprise play style. running viru or engi can be made to work, but is going to be a lot more effort than mm, and is never going to put out the crazy burst that mm will.

you're right, that it is something that needs to be watched for when running viru though. most of the those cleanses you mention are on relatively long cooldowns and corrosive grenade spreads more dots while being part of the rotation, so it is not as much an issue as you might think. one of the main reasons i switched away from mm is that almost all dcd's work against ranged damage and i found that hugely frustrating. being mindful of what you are attacking, and the counters they have available is needed no matter what spec or class you are running. Some classes have cleanses and every class has strong defensives against ranged and melee attacks. At least you don't need to reapply your dots all the time on sins, operatives and the occasional sorc (that bubble barrier thing).
